UPND suspends GBM

The opposition United Party for National Development – UPND has suspended its vice president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, popularly known as GBM, for gross misconduct.

The party’s highest organ, the National Management Committee (NMC), which met in Lusaka today, resolved to suspend GBM following recent wrangles that have rocked the country’s main opposition party.

According to a press statement signed by UPND National Chairperson Mutale Nalumango, 75 members voted that GBM be suspended for seven days awaiting his exculpatory letter whilst no member voted for GBM not to be suspended.

If expelled , GBM will join a list of Former Vice Presidents of UPND who are no longer with the party now including; Patrick Chisanga, Sakwiba Sikota, Richard Kapita and Canissius Banda.

Recently the UPND has been engulfed in war of words between the SG, Vice President and youth wing leadership.
