The ruling Patriotic Front has advised Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) to remove its leader Hakainde Hichilema and not his vice Geoffrey Mwamba, better known as GBM.

Commenting on the suspension of GBM by the the party’s highest organ, the National Management Committee (NMC), PF Deputy Media Director Antonio Mwanza said the coach (Hichilema) keeps losing, so he must be retired instead of his deputy.

In apparent reference to the UPND President Hakainde Hichilema who has contested five presidential elections, three general and two bye elections, Mwanza said if you can’t put a team together then you are not a team player as a coach.

“When a team is keeps on losing it’s the head coach not the assistant coach you fire. If you can’t keep a team together then you are not a team player but a selfish and self-serving block who uses others for your own selfish gain,” Mwanza said.

“After five electoral losses, simple political logic shows UPND needs to change its President, not its vice presidents.”

Meanwhile, Mwanza has accused Hichilema of being the one with a problem and not the Vice Presidents he constantly changes.

“In the last few years, UPND dropped Sakwiba Sikota, Bob Sichinga, Patrick Chisanga, Francis Simenda, Richard Kapita, Canisius Banda, and now Godfrey Bwalya Mwamba” he said in a statement.
