More than three Councillors in Roan Constituency , Luanshya District on the Copperbelt are expected to defect from the ruling Patriotic Front to join the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to a reliable source, the councillors are expected to ditch the PF during the planned NDC victory rally in Luanshya today.

Most PF councillors are said to be loyal to the former MP and now NDC leader so the likelihood that most will change camp to NDC is high

The Chishimba Kambwili-led NDC recorded it’s maiden victory during the April 12, Roan constituency Parliamentary by-elections.

Meanwhile, the NDC will hold its victory rally more than a week since it emerged victorious in Roan. The NDC candidate Joseph Chishala was declared winner in the early hours of April 12.

But the party was stopped from holding any celebrations or victory gatherings after Copperbelt Police commanding officer Charity Katanga said the opposition party can only celebrate after applying to police seven days prior to their celebrations.

Roan Constituency Returning Officer Emmanuel Makulila declared Chishala as a duly elected Roan Member of Parliament after polling 8, 665 votes to beat Joel Chibuye of the ruling PF who polled 5, 533 votes.
