If GBM leaves UPND, PF has more to lose

Public policy analyst Mwamba Peni has advised the ruling Patriotic Front against celebrating the problems in the Opposition United Party for National Development – UPND.

Peni says the issue of UPND Vice President Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba popularly known as GBM, must not excite PF as the ruling party has more to lose if he leaves UPND.

“The ones who are naive are PF cadres. They think when GBM is kicked out of UPND that is going to be an advantage to them. They are wrong. GBM is strong in their strongholds,” Peni said

Peni also says GBM’s suspected impeding move from UPND can slim the chances of PF to win the Northern block.

“In the last elections, GBM brought a lot of people on UPND’s side then you had those who could not move because of the HH factor”,

“If he leaves UPND, most of those frustrated PF cadres who are on the fence may join him. For UPND, this may set anoother bad precedence if GBM leaves. Is HH a user?”

The UPND has been engulfed in wrangles, with the party’s Vice president castigating the Secretary General. And the youth wing has also asked the party Central Committee to axe the party for insubordination.

  1. HH is not a user. I wish to advise you my brother to look at events. GBM yes contributed to the Party but his current behaviour is detrimental to the Party. What about Canious Banda? What did he contribute apart from begging money from members?

  2. Your analysis is misconceived. What political muscle has GBM have on Northern Province? And your saying that PF has got more to lose that UPND is not true. Get back to your study and make proper analysis that assumptions. If GBM was today make an announcement that he had left UPND, do you think PF would not celebrate because of that move? Now look at the reason behind UPND acquiring GBM of which one and the PRIME was to win the kodos from the Bembaland. Now the question; Did that work to the advantage of UPND or not? The answer is big NO and possibly the reason of finding a very slightest err in GBM for the exit process of him to start. Of course the speculations are there that UPND next target to hoodwink is Chishimba Kambwili if it is something to go by then there are more questions than answers. One question is, Why is UPND targeting Bembas alone? The answer is very obvious that the party has a very liquid ground in northern hence some advantage of PF has over UPND and the panic.
