Vice President Inonge Wina says the management at the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) overstepped its mandate when it released the trends report for 2017 to the general public before availing such intelligence information to law enforcement agencies.

Speaking in Parliament this morning during the Vice President’s Question Time, Wina said the conduct of the Centre seems to indicate that the Centre has a different agenda away from its original role.

She says the authorities will not encourage institutions created by government to begin to operate outside prescribed terms of reference.

Meanwhile, Wina has appealed to political leaders to take a leaf from President Edgar Lungu and UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema’s gesture to shake hands during the burial of late Former Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe in order to promote unity and peace in the country.
