Breeze FM reporter Grace Lungu (pictured) was this morning beaten up by Patriotic Front (PF) cadres in Lundazi district.

Lungu, who had hired a taxi to take her to Mkomba ward to cover the local government by-election, was assaulted by the unruly cadres, who also grabbed her personal belongings including money.

Speaking to Breeze FM after the incident, the traumatized Lungu said the PF cadres, who were in a Toyota Hilux stopped the taxi, which had earlier overtaken their vehicle.

The cadres, who accused the taxi driver and Lungu of being UPND sympathisers, then started beating the taxi driver and later dragged Lungu out of the vehicle while beating her.

And Eastern Province Police Commissioner, Lackson Sakala has confirmed the incident.

Sakala says that police have launched investigations to arrest the suspects.

Meanwhile PF provincial chairperson, Andrew Lubusha says that the PF does not support violence against journalists or other political parties.

Lubusha indicated that the party will assist with the investigations to ensure that the culprits are arrested.
