Suspected United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres  have attacked Vice President Inonge Wina’s  house in Nalolo constituency, beating up her relatives and smashing windows.

This happened yesterday in Mongu when UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema was in the area to pay  homage to Litunga Limboela in Moyo.

The irate cadres stormed Mrs Wina’s place demanding to see her sister but found that she was not at home at the time.

They later pounced on her  grand children and other relatives beating them up and hitting one of them a with a block on his head.

Vice President Inonge Wina has confirmed the incident to ZNBC News in Lusaka.

She said it is unfortunate that the Suspected UPND  cadres are attacking her relatives by virtue of her being in office.

Mrs Wina said her relatives have been traumatized and have have since left the house in fear of being victimized by suspected UPND cardres.

Efforts by ZNBC to get a comment from UPND President Hakainde Hichilema, his two Vice President Dr Canicius Banda and Geoffrey Mwamba failed as their phones went unanswered.

And several stakeholders have condemned the violence by  suspected UPND cadres.

Zambia Centre for Inter-party Dialogue (ZCID) Executive Director Horrace Chilando condemned the act saying there is no justification for attacking the private residence of Mrs Wina.

He said its unfortunate that the cadres had to attack the Vice Presidents Relatives for merely being related to the Vice President.

And Jesuit Centre for theological Reflections JCTR Director Father  Leonard Chiti condemned the act saying the law enforcement agencies must quickly move in to arrest the situation.

He said Zambia is a peaceful nation and such acts have a potential of causing anarchy in  the country.

Fr Chiti said the reconciliation called by President Lungu this year was meant for all parties to co exist despite political divide.

And Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia Executive Director Reverend Pukuta Mwanza says acts of violence should not be tolerated.

He said stringent measures must be put in place  in order to guarantee freedom especially in the forthcoming general election.

Meanwhile United National Independence Party UNIP in Southern Province says the party is worried with the political violence going on in the country.

UNIP Southern Province Chairman retired Captain Robert  Mukengami says there is need to preserve the peace Zambia has enjoyed for the last 50 years.

Captain Mukengami says it is high time political parties concentrated on debating real issues affecting the country than engaging in violence.

He has since appealed to the church and civil society organizations to engage political party leaders to put an end to violence.

Captain Mukengami said this in a walk in interview with ZNBC News in Livingstone.

We all know who would suffer worse in the PF UNPND war.

  4. Outrageous and desperate acts from small minds!
This act alone has cost UPND heavily in loss of votes country wide, are they so desperate?
That GBM can not even run if people were to show UPND a piece of their cake.

  5. Personally I have a lot of respect and admiration for Her Honour the Veep, she has added maturity and leadership to the PF.
Such barbaric acts will only rob this country of a good mentor to the cabinet albeit that this is coming from her own door step in Nalolo.
These politics of violence are quite backward anytime in the life of this democracy and in essence, they tend to hit the innocent vulnerable more than it does those holding power.
HH and GBM should recuse themselves from such obscene acts of recklessness and low down leadership.
Violence has never been on the highway to political success.

  6. Fellow country men, women, children and the youth. I have been compelled to comment on the recent violence witnessed in some parts of the country, especially in Luansha and Nalolo. Zambians must not accept nor tolerate this vice. Violence has no place in Zambian whether caused by the PF or UPND carders. I am just appalled by the hypocrisy of some church leaders. They condemned the Nalolo violence, but were mute on the Luansha one. I am a believer and I look at issues with sober minds. Church leaders should not help wicked politicians to divide this great nation. Lets condemn all forms of violence, whether perpetuated by PF or UPND. Sober up.

  7. Why didn’t Father Bwalya, the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) Executive Director Pukuta Mwanza and the Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) Executive Director, Horrance Chilando condemn the P.F in the first place when they attacked 1000 UPND members but got excited commenting on the propaganda which in any case involve only 3 people? Please Zambians, let’s be serious with issues. Edgar Lungu has lost it.
Now where are the benefits of prayer and reconciliation if the PF can be cooking such a propaganda at the expense of fixing our economy which is the worst in the world.

  8. Hahahahahahaah this is very good if it is true. Chiwamila galu kuluma mbunzi. The Veep sponsored her PF carders to bit HH in Kitwe last week; attack l saw for myself; and today the veep is attacked and every dog want to open its mouth. UPND please keep the spirit to defend yourselves and our democracy. Next time we shall join you in numbers to fight on your side; we are tired by these magots in the PF who want to turn our democracy fighting zone. Next should be copperbelt and its ministers.

  11. There is no room for violence regardless of who does it. The foolish commentators from the clergy leaves much to be desired of our religious groups and some NGOs that can quickly rush to condemn UPND when PF are the authors of this violence through that old woman Inonge Wina. She has now felt the heart actually if she does not change she must as well prepare to run faster than her age if war was to break in the country. I have followed debates in parliament with kin interest but PF members of parliament seem to be happy because the Zambia Police has been, is and will remain royal to help them beat up UPND cadres and killing them if it means so, but they should know that there time will come to leave office and the blood of those they have spilled will cry louder to face them one by one. I pray for peace in our country yet I strongly feel those who use pangas must also be chopped with their pangas. An eye for an eye. If we want to involve God then let us all be for God of peace. If you use God’s name in vanity then we will continue killing each other. The answer for peace or violence is in the hands of Inonge Wina.
