Returning Officer Tutwa Ngulube for Patriotic Front General Conference has declared has declared Edgar Lungu as Party President after other candidates did not show up.

Chaos continued at the PF general conference as Interim president Guy Scott and other candidates could not show up. The Central Committee however countinued with business.

The Returning Officer read out the rules and stated that no candidate had informed him of any withdrawal except for Mulenga Sata who was present. Pangulani Selemani Banda the only candidate who was present could not manage to raise the 200 required supporters.

Reports reaching us is that the other candidates decided to go to Lusaka to get a court order to stop the General Conference from going ahead and elect the president of the party.

Ealier Elections Chaiperson Sylvia Masebo tried to stop the voting claiming that the procedure has not been followed and that the assembled delegates were not the right ones.  Ms Masebo told the delegates that any voting that would take place would be consided null and void.

At this moment Lungu’ supporters got annoyed and charged at Masebo who was only served by the Police who whisked her from the venue and fired teargas cansisters in the air to disperse the irrate cadres.

Dr. Scott by press time had not yet said anything about this developemnt.

Lungu’s supporters mobbed him and went wild when he was declared as winner.
