Banda is one of the PF controversial members. He came to limelight when he was alleged to have beaten some Police officers at a police station during Edgar Lungu’s reign.

The PF did not adopt him in preference for Bamayo Ba Dora Siliya. He contested as Independent and beat Siliya.

He has been one of the close members of Parliament to former president Lungu.

Banda was one of the MPs including Jean Chisenga the Mambilima MP who were in Lungu’s encourage in Kabwe when the Police stormed the Roman Catholic Church Bishop’s office to disrupt a meeting.

Chisenga’s house mysteriously caught fire early this week and the opposition alliance UKA sisspsct foul play.

They gave a 2 weeks ultimatum to Police to arrest Local Government and Rural Development Minister Gary Nkombo as a suspect. This follows Nkombo’s warning that Chisenga would pay for calling President Hakainde Hichilema a liar when he optically opened Parliament.
