Nakachinda sent to prison

Patriotic Front (PF ) faction Secretary General Raphael Nakacinda has been sent to prison for defaming President Hakainde Hichilema, the law which was abolished in 2022.

This is in a matter where Nakachinda was charged with defamation of the President following his remarks in 2021.

In 2022 President Hakainde Hichilema abolished the criminal defamation of the President.

Nakacinda has been jailed 18 months imprisonment with hard labour for accusing the President of having summoned judges to his house to persuade them bring a one party state.

His allegations were amidst a hearing of a judicial review application by some eight PF members of parliament who had challenged Speaker of the National Assembly, Nelly Mutti ‘s decision to chase them from parliament after the nullification of their seats.

He has been jailed by Lusaka Principal Resident Magistrate Irene Washimanga.

For now, Nakacinda remains in custody.

However, Nakachinda assured PF, United Kwacha Alliance ( UKA) supporters that he will be back as he entered Kasalanga after being jailed.
