Lungu not excited by GBM’s return

President Edgar Lungu says he “does not have full information” about former UPND Vice President Geoffrey Mwamba, better known as GBM, rejoining the Patriotic Front (PF).

Responding to journalists upon arrival from Luapula Province yesterday, President Lungu said as it stands he does not know anything and is yet to get the full details on the matter.

When asked whether he has forgiven GBM who has asked for forgiveness for the insults he had been showering on him, the President maintained that he is yet to get full details on what transpired.

And President Lungu says it is normal for anyone to contest the presidency. He was reacting to the decision by PF stalwart Kelvin Fube Bwalya to challenge him for the PF presidency in 2020.

Meanwhile, a political analyst has advised the Patriotic Front (PF) not to trust former UPND Vice President Geoffrey Mwamba because he castigated them when he was in the opposition.

Dr. Alex Ng’oma says the PF will need to be careful in dealing with GBM who was suspended in the UPND because of the way he has traded politically.

He has however described as unfortunate the decision by the UPND to suspend GBM leading to him re-joining the Patriotic Front.

GBM yesterday resigned from the UPND and re-joined the ruling Patriotic Front with a call on all his supporters to follow him.

  1. Why should he be intetested? I also support the SG Davies Mwila for leaving the secretariat in avoiding GBM.At his Age in politics he cannot insult PF within two weeks time and join them later. Give his two years observation period or else PF will have themselves to blame. He is a traitor

  2. One thing I learn from UPND suspending the Veep is that it’s a serious party practising the real rule of law. It’s alleged that the Veep violated the party constitution by forming parallel structures. It’s wrong and he had to clear his name. To me this only shows that UPND once in office will promote the rule of laws unlike now when others are untouchables. Congratulations UPND and continue moving forward
