Hichilema holds talks with Ambassadors

President Hakainde Hichilema yesterday met and held talks with Excellences’; the Ambassadors of Germany, the European Union, France and Norway.

The meeting discussed issues related to Zambia’s democracy, which included
• Freedoms of Assembly, expression, movement of all people and organisations.
• An independent and impartial Electoral Commission to run free and fair elections.
• Fair access to all media houses by all the political players during elections and always to ensure a level playing field for all.

Meanwhile the Excellences’ hailed President Hichilema for the gesture of peace demonstrated by in the aftermath of the recent Presidential by-election.

They advised him to continue preaching peace and upholding the tenancies of democracy.
“Peace and Unity are important because they lead to peaceful and free and fair elections,”

President Hakainde Hichilema commended the excellences’ for their concern on issues affecting the people of Zambia.

“Dialogue with international community is indeed a build up to a strong global village, as UPND we will always stand ready to participate in any genuine dialogue to ensure full realization of democracy.”

President Hichilema, was accompanied by Ambassador and Chairman for International Relations Mr Mulondwe Muzungu, , UPND Chief Whip in Parliament, Hon Gary Nkombo, MP and Legal Counsel and member of the UPND National Management Committee Ms. Martha Mushipe.

The meeting covered a wide range of important subjects to Zambia’s democratization. Inter alia, the meeting recognized the need for the following:-
