In his message of condolences, Hichilema said he received the passing on of the Reverend with shock.
Below is Hichelema’s statement:
Fellow Citizens.
It was with a deep sense of shock and grief that I learnt of the passing on of Reverend Violet Sampa-Bredt, who succumbed to cancer in Germany.
As a young upcoming politician, I remember her as Council of Churches in Zambia, Secretary General fighting for democracy. She was a leading voice against the third term bid by Late President Chiluba. Rev Sampa-Bredt stood against injustice with such passion that gave one alot of hope for our country. Zambia has indeed lost a vibrant woman.
To the Sampa and Bredt families, please accept my condolences on behalf of my family and the UPND. May the soul of this great woman rest in peace.
God bless you all.
Hakainde Hichilema
UPND President
