Barely 5 months after President Hakainde Hichilema told Zambians that load shedding had ended the country is experiencing darkness again.

Commenting on the ongoing load shedding, President Hichilema has continued making promises.

President Hichilema said a document through the Ministry of Energy is being formed to expedite the process for investors to develop Independent Power Producers and it shall be shared with the public soon once it is done.

“An Energy Sufficiency Strategy through the Ministry of Energy is being formulated to expedite processes for investors to develop Independent Power Producers. Soon this shall be shared with the public with a window for Zambians to partake in Power Producing Ventures.

“Our vision is very clear and resolute, and that is to build a vibrant economy that will create business opportunities and jobs for our citizens. We will not depart from this route regardless of the unexpected obstacles we find on the way,” he said.

While in opposition, the President promised Zambians that once in power, load shedding would be a thing of history.

In August 2022, President Hichilema tweeted ” when we came in, there was load shedding. We promised you that we’ll end this within a year in office. Is there load shedding now? No.”

However, 3 days ago, Zambia started experiencing 12 hours load shedding as announced by Zambia Electricity Supply Company (ZESCO).
