Do not let PF finish what they started – Dipak Patel

Hakainde Hichilema’s campaign manager Dipak Patel says Zambians should not vote for PF in the January 20 presidential elections to finish what they started.

In a statement to Zambian Eye released on Friday, January 9, 2014, Patel wondered why Zambians would allow the PF to continue with bad governance.

Below is the statement in full:

I have heard some people rehearse the argument that we should allow the PF time to finish what they started.

Should we let them finish not paying the farmers, sacking our nurses, increasing the national debt and delaying the constitution? Should we let them finish denying students bursaries, thuggish behaviour and intimidating those who speak out against them? No, we should not let them finish that.

Of course where development and construction projects are underway we must continue with these, but no one government will ever finish development and I can tell you now that we will move these forward at a quicker rate and at better value for Zambians.

At the same time we will act to stop the various failures in areas such as farming and education. We will stop the waste and irresponsible accumulation of debt without proper benefit to the Zambian people.

On the matter of the budget that has been passed it should be noted that the budget that has been passed is the Zambian National budget and not simply a PF budget. We can revise elements of that budget, but most importantly we can oversee its implementation with more competent and open management.

We would also like to address some misconceptions being peddled by PF regarding our ability to deliver on our promises if Mr Hichilema is successfully elected President on 20 January 2015.

We have shown in the past weeks that we have cross-party support and that we are in agreement with many others on the right course of action, for example on key areas such as the constitution. In this campaign we have opened our arms to all Zambians – this working together in unity to deliver should be encouraged and not shied away from.

Those who say we cannot do anything in two years are those that twiddle their thumbs while Zambians across the country go hungry. They are worried we will show them up and the people will judge them harshly by comparison.

Mr Hichilema has already committed to a number of pledges for almost immediate action, including reversal of the retirement age, ending of the wage and employment freeze and recognition of Henry Kanyanta Sosala as Chitimukulu. Some promises will take longer to deliver on but we are committed to getting started in January 2015.

As Election Day approaches I appeal to Zambians to remember this is an election and the choice rests with you the Zambian people. Come 20 January 2015 vote for the candidate you believe will deliver change and move Zambia forward.

  1. Mwenye uyu niwa nzelu. Can you compare such with, lets say, Willie Nsanda who is PF Campaign Manager? What can Willie Nsanda say that makes sense? All he knows is “kuma road contracts kuli mpiya sana”. Willie Nsanda reflects all that Edgar Lungu is. Nowonder RB has moved in quite quickly to put such characters behind the scenes as they add no value to EL. Zambians should open their eyes and vote in a sane governemnt. Look at Rupiah Banda since he endorsed EL. He doesn’t also know whether he is going or coming. He doesnt say anything that makes sense.

    • Nsanda delivered Sata who ruled you until his death. Any success of that level for Dipak. Even now, he will not win HH anything, and will dump him for EL soon after results are announced.

  5. This Patelo is just politicking, he is looking for a job and business opportunities. How can you make an overhaul of all the people in leadership in one year and claim that you are serving people. Which people is he refering to. HH is still young he could have waited for 2016. Where are you rushing to? We are replacing a president for PF whose mandate was 5 years. Patelo I know is just trying to work on the minds of people who are less informed. All what is saying is just some negative statements to whoe supporters. Let me be a bit harsh. If PATEL owned a hospital and his nursing staff went on strive and all the patients died. Remember the nursing ethics, no one should go on strike. what would he do?

  9. Some Promises Take Long To Come, Very Nice Mr Patel. So It Will Be Wise To Vote For Pf To Continue For Us To See Their Promises Which They Are Yet To Deliver In A Much Shorter Time To Come Because We Have Already Waited For Them For 3years. Unlike Voting For Upnd Which Will Mean Restarting Our Waiting. Dont Vote For Upnd, Its Time Wasting. We Dont Want Starts Because We Started A Long Time Ago, With Pf We Are Near To The Promise Land. @Lisa, You Are Luky I Came Late. Vote Edger Lungu, Efintu.
