Farmers in Kalomo District have complained that they have not been paid for the maize they supplied to Food Reserve Agency.

The Farmers say, reports that government had paid them were not true but cheap propaganda to deceive people ahead of the polls on January 20.

One of the farmers said it has been difficult to get farming inputs for this season. He it is unheard of in the history of Zambia that farmers had not been paid by January.

This according to Hampango of Chief Chikanta, will definitely affect the yield for the 2015 farming season.

“We have to get loans to try and get seeds and fertiliser which may not even be enough,” Hampango explained.

Worse off, Schools are opening, it means we have to go elsewhere again to borrow to send children to school,” complained Hampango who has supplied over 150 bags of maize to FRA.

FRA has been paying farmers in batches and the process so slow. The exercise is not well coordinated.

“Sometimes you are called while still in the queue, just to be told the money has finished, like my brothers were referred to Livingstone from Kalomo,” he complained. We
