Bush fire kills 3 Boys in Pemba

The remains of the boy who died on the spot

 

Three Boys have been killed in a bush fire accident in Pemba District of Southern province.

The Boys in the age range of 8 to 10 years met their fate on Friday afternoon when they went to the bush to collect wild fruits.

According to a Relative to the deceased, one boy died on the spot while the other two died from Monze hospital where they had been hospitalized.

The one who died on the spot is said to have fallen from the tree after he is suspected to have been choacked by the smoke from the fire.

“He was found with a scar on the back of his head, he must have fallen from the tree. He was burnt and died on the spot while the other two managed to escape but sustained serious burns. They were admitted to Monze hospital, but unfortunate one died midday the following day while the other one in the evening,” narrated a Relative to Zambian Eye.

The Boys had just come from School with their Parents to collect Results for the last term. So after lunch they decided to go in the bush to collect wild fruits.

The incidence happened between 1 and 2pm in Kanatela village in Bulanda area under Chief Hamaundu, about 20 kms South-East of Pemba town.

An Officer at Pemba Police station who chose to remain anonymous confirmed to Zambian Eye that they had recorded a Brought In Dead (BID) case by bush fire reported at 4pm on Friday, 15th September 2023. The body was deposited at Pemba mini hospital mortuary and was burried the following day.

“The whole thing is surprising and we are deeply destressed to lose lives in such a way,” a Relative 😭.
