President Edgar Lungu says people who are not ready for the August 11 General Election should withdraw from the race instead of accusing the Electoral Commission of Zambia-ECZ- of planning to rig the poll.

The President says government will protect the integrity of the ECZ because it is among the best electoral bodies in Southern Africa and the continent.

And President Lungu has declared that the PF is ready for the election.

The President was speaking this morning on arrival at Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone for the official opening of the World Farmers’ Organisation General Assembly.

President Lungu assured PF members who welcomed him at the airport that the ruling party is stronger now than ever before.

He said some opposition parties are accusing the ECZ of planning to rig the August 11 election as an excuse for losing because the message is clear that they will lose to the PF.

President Lungu said the opposition missed the opportunity to dislodge the PF from power in the 2015 Presidential election.

The President also said he is happy that Zambians including some opposition parties have embraced the ‘One Zambia One Nation’ slogan and encouraged everyone in the country to preach peace, love and unity.

And Southern Province Minister Nathanial Mubukwanu informed the President that the region is peaceful except for an outbreak of Cholera in Monze and Mazabuka districts.

Mr. Mubukwanu said the government may consider to temporarily ban fish trading as a way of curbing cholera because the disease is spreading from fishing camps in the affected districts – ZNBC

  1. Southern Province is peaceful apart from Cholera brought by PF poor management of health sector and environment. All Zambians who registered for voting are ready to show Edgar Lungu the exit door. This time we want real change not yappy yappy attitude seen and heard from disgruntled fellows like Frank Bwalya. Character assassination against Hakainde Hichilema won’t help PF but let them work harder and prove to the voters that they can do better than what they have done in the past five years. For now we want HH and UPND to rule Zambia.

  2. Am just surprised the way Mainza is coming out. Un fortunately, such sentiments really indicate that UPND is only in the Southern province . Am from Copper belt and a full supporter of UPND and am very surprised that people are still practicing about region politics and from today onwards I have withdrawn and its better to support FDD. Its high time Mainza must refrain from mentioning regional politics .Mainza you are too tribal and I don’t think UPND will win the general elections. I don’t see any problem with UPND leadership but the some people claiming to be for UPND are bringing it down. Concerned Citizen

    • From your shallow understanding of what mainza has said can you show what is tribal in his statement.IS it his name, the party he supports or the leader of the party he supports.Lets respect other pipos choices.

    • Edgar has practically told people thru what he has initiated countrywide. If by chance you win you will remember who did what in Zambia. You merely talk and will not do anything bcose your energy by then will be finished. PF will continue polishing and constructing more for our children.

  6. @# Lingau: This is got nothing to do with Mainza. You already made up your mind to vote for Lungu, so please do so. How many times have we heard tribal remarks from senior people in PF including Lungu? Give us a break and just vote for your Lungu. If PF wins that will definately be as a result of rigging, period! They dont stand a chance.

  7. People have run out of lies.
Good politics we want are what are candidates going to do to improve the economy? What will happen to the :
Exchange rate, high prices of mealie meal, fuel prices, transport costs, school fees, educational materials that are not there from G2,3,4,6 and7?
Mere bragging to win elections without proper campaign messages is like going hunting with a gun without bullets.
When electorates are hungry and have no money for food, how do they vote for more suffering?
In a war which one do you help, the person shooting at you or the person defending you?
Now which one, the one causing you to suffer and the one promising to end your suffering? Roads with expensive transport costs/fuel or more food through agriculture?
How foolish are Zambians to vote to continue with incompetent leaders causing sufferings?
Yes some roads are there but high fuel prices still pushing up transport costs for everything. Who likes it this way?
We are yet to decide to continue suffering and get used to it or change for the better.
Each one will vote according to the feel and fill of his/her stomach.
Now can an empty stomach vote to continue to be empty?
Sobber up and help your relatives get out of suffering.
