The people of Feira constituency in Luangwa district of Eastern province have started voting to elect their new Member of Parliament (MP).
Voting in many polling stations opened around 06:00 hours and is expected to close at 18:00 hours.
The voting has however opened on a very low note .
Political party representatives and the civil society organisations are keenly monitoring the voting process.
The campaign period was general calm with isolated incidents of violence especially on Wednesday where Patriotic Front (PF) attacked a United Party for National Development (UPND) MP Kennedy Hamudulu.
The Feira by election was necessitated by the resignation of then MP who was from the MMD to join PF.
Five candidates, from the MMD, NAREP, UNIP, PF and UPND are contesting the seat.
