PF Officials protest against DC in Chirundu

 Some members of the Patriotic Front in Chirundu have protested against area District Commissioner, Maxwell Siamalimba.

The cadres have accused the DC of destabilising the ruling party and have asked President Michael Sata to immediately remove him or transfer him before the ruling party loses popularity in the district.

Meanwhile, some village headmen from Sikoongo have threatened not to support the ruling party once the DC is removed.

A check at Mandenga Primary School on Saturday, where some headmen gathered awaiting the arrival of Lusaka permanent Secretary who was in the area yesterday, one headman said, “we are waiting for the arrival of the PS and we want him to inform the president that, once Siamalimba is removed then the ruling party must forget about any support from us traditional leaders”.

But the PF district Chairlady Mrs Nkunda and other party officials have accused the DC of corruptly hiring some traditional leaders to defend him.

“We have been informed that, the man has paid some headmen to support him which will not help because the community wants him to go and this is the stand of the party officials here in Chirundu. It’s either he is removed or transferred from here. We have also reliable information that, the DC has hired some traditional leaders to defend him. The DC has facilitated the movement of those traditional leaders to come and defend him”, said Mrs Nkunda.

The cadres have also accused him of engineering some transfers of civil servants on trivial issues hence retarding development in the area. And they have accused the DC of not defending the locals when it comes to employment in the district.

“We have a lot unemployed youths in the district but all what we are seeing is people from other places, are the ones who are being employed. He is bringing other people and his relatives to come and get employment here in the new district”, said the cadres.

And PF District and ward officials yesterday presented the petition to the permanent secretary of Lusaka Province, demanding the immediate removal or transfer of the District Commissioner.
