Operation Young Vote (OYV) has urged members of Parliament to stop the bill PF is presenting seeking to increase the number of Ministries.

OYV Executive Director Guess Nyirenda has observed that the kind of bills PF is presenting to Parliament are unacceptable designed to create jobs for a few selfish individuals.

Nyirenda said this in a press statement below to Zambian Eye Saturday morning;

The kind of Bills being presented before Parliament by the PF government such as the bill to increase the number of Ministries from the current 23 to 30 is unacceptable and should henceforth be stopped from being law.

It is unwise to begin to table in Parliament such a bill that only aims at creating jobs for a few individuals who would gobble too much resource from the national treasury through emoluments and other unnecessary expenditures at the expense of the majority helpless citizens and young people whose common denominator is joblessness, poverty and destitution among others. These challenges Zambians are experiencing are as a result of poor, non focused and visionless leaders whose preoccupation is to amass wealth at all costs including abusing the law and institutions of governance such as Parliament to create legislation that favours them and disadvantages those that elect them to office.

It is immorality and criminality of the highest order to employ such schemes of taking inconceivable legislation increasing Ministerial Position when the opposite is supposed to be the case in our deteriorated economy. Zambia’s once vibrant economy has been wrecked and collapsed by the PF regime whose not sensitive to any effects they has caused.

It is now very clear that the current leadership has no remorse on injury they have and continue to cause on the nation and its citizens. They have over borrowed, created an environment where citizens are losing jobs every day, ruined our educational sector, disempowered the young people and generally denied Zambians to live dignified lives.

OYV is convinced that the PF Governments means no good with the proposed legislation table by the Minister of Justice in Parliament meant to increase the number of ministries from 23 to 30. The PF has shown the world that they came to work for themselves and not Zambians. They came to amass at whatever cost.

OYV would also like to call upon the Minister of Justice Hon Ngosa Simbyakula to immediately withdraw this selfish bill from Parliament. The PF Government must be ashamed of this scheme, withdraw it from Parliament and apologize to the Zambians for such abuse.

It remains questionable why the PF would be jostling for higher numbers of Ministerial positions at the 11th hours. It is ironical for the PF leadership to think that Zambians are naïve to allow such greediness of a few individuals that want to live luxurious lives at the expense of the poor majority.

  4. Why is it necessary to increase the number of ministries at the time when the economy is in tatters. The government is failing to honour numerous financial obligations. This government never ceases to amaze me. They quashed students meal allowances and when they came back to their senses they increased the allowances almost doubling them, surprisingly they have no clue where the money will come from. Now they want to increase the number of ministers. God help us.

  6. Let us Zambians learn to read & understand before we comment. OYV, do you know how the 30 ministers is proposed to be distributed under the new constitution? It is 10 provincial ministers & 20 cabinet ministers. Let us not degenerate into a negative people even where we haven’t understood the issue. It is like people I hear condemning the new constitution that they have not read. The new constitution actually gives real power to the people. Read it & understand your new found rights you never had! God Bless Zambia
