Sata and GBM reconciliation

The reported “reconciliation” between President Michael Sata and former Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba popularly known as GBM makes very interesting reading.

GBM is reported to have issued a media statement that he has now reconciled with President Sata following Wynter Kabimba’s dismissal from cabinet. But this is where Zambian politicians get it all wrong- first and foremost we thought GBM resigned from Government because of President Sata’s refusal to recognize Henry Kanyanta Sosala as the Chitimukulu? What is GBM telling us now? That he resigned because of Wynter Kabimba?

This is why Zambia keeps on going round in circles because of such politicians who lack principles. We got it wrong- we thought GBM resigned because of principles- that he couldn’t associate himself with people who were disrespecting traditional leaders. What has changed now on President Sata’s position on Henry Sosala now that Wynter has been fired to make GBM reconcile with Sata?

Was Wynter the one who decreed that Henry Kanyanta should not be the Chitimukulu? If that was the case, has President Sata reversed Yynter’s decision and Henry Kanyanta will now be gazetted as the Chitimukulu? These are questions which GBM should have provided answers to the citizens before he could have announced that he has now reconciled with President Sata.

My advice to citizens is that let us be wary about politicians who lack principles. That’s why we say 2016 should be a new chapter of new beginnings, a time to usher in a new leadership who are principled. GBM’s reported “reconciliation” with President Sata does not surprise us.

I warned some time back that GBM will never resign from the PF because he has seen an opportunity to take over PF as president. What is the difference between him and GBM? Only time will tell.
