President Edgar Lungu will now be flown out of Zambia for special treatment, his Spokesperson Amos Chanda has announced.
President Lungu fell down on the podium when he was gracing Women’s Day celebrations. He sustained a swollen forehead and has been diagonised to have had a recurrance of Achalasia.
Giving an update at 10:30am Monday morning on the condition of President Lungu who is hospitalised at Maina Soko Military Hospital in Lusaka, Chanda told reporters at State House that the President’s conditions needs a high tech medical procedure abroad.
Chanda could however not indicate which country the president will be flown to but said the Doctors have recomended that he undergoes a high teach procedure abroad.
“Doctors have explored options of correcting the narrowing of the food pipe that led to the illness of the President on Sunday,” Chanda said. “They have recommended that President Lungu undergoes a high-tech medical procedure which is currently unavailable in Zambia and therefore he has been referred for specialised treatment abroad.”
Chanda said the reported malaria infection yesterday has been ruled out by Doctors.
