President Lungu, HH hold meeting

File: HH greets President Lungu during Munkombwe’s burial

The two political rivals – President Edgar Lungu and main opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema has held a meeting for the first time.

The two have not been seeing eye to an eye from 2016 general elections as Hichilema has accused Lungu of having stolen his results. He has refused to recognize his presidency.

This rivalry has seen the country divided as both command almost 50 percent support with Lungu just ahead with one percent according to the results of 2016 elections.

There has been calls to have the two dialogue and reconcile for the sake of unit of the country.

The three Church Mother Bodies that are spearheading the process has announced that the two leaders met for the first time on November 12, 2018.

The meeting was held in cordial atmosphere and they addressed each other as brother, reads parts of the press statement by the Church released to Zambian Eye today.
