Police raid UPND campaign centre

FB_IMG_1467372701479Police in the early hours of this morning broke into the UPND Mass Mobilisation office near Zesco headquarters in Rhodes Park area. This is the office that houses some planning meetings and campaign strategy as well as UPND campaign materials such as chitenges and other regalia.

Party district secretary Mina Gamma confirmed the raid to Radio Phoenix, saying the officers broke the doors and windows to the premises and arrested about 10 party members operating from the center. They also took with them all the UPND files and vehicles that were found there.

However, the reasons for the raid have not been disclosed.

And UPND Secretary General Stephen Katuka has described the raid as one of the ruling PF’s maneuvers aimed at derailing the opposition party’s momentum aheah of the August 11 elections.
