The Zambia Police in Kitwe on the Copperbelt province has charged opposition MMD president Nevers Mumba with conduct likely to cause breach of peace after arresting him Wednesday morning.

Police Spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela disclosed this in Lusaka saying Mumba statement alleging that the ruling PF party had released billions of kwachas to distablize the MMD could cause a breach of peace.

Kanjela says the sentiments are not true and that they are likely to cause a breach of the peace contrary to Section 178(F) of CAP 87 of the Penal Code. She says Dr Mumba will appear in court soon.

He was picked up at an apartment in Kitwe’s Parklands area where he was lodging. Mumba has since been released after he was detained for some hours. This is a second time Mumba is being arrested over the same offense in the space of three weeks on the Copperbelt.
