junior_chipolopoloNational Sports Council Chairman, Mwamba Kalenga has implored the Zambia National Soccer team (CHAN squad) to adopt a ‘can do it attitude’ as they meet Namibia this weekend in the Rwanda CHAN 2016 first round, first leg qualifier slated for Windhoek in Namibia.

Speaking this afternoon when he addressed  players at the Olympic Youth Development Centre, Mr Kalenga said it is possible for the boys to get a good result if they work hard and remain focussed  in training.

“You are young and you have to take advantage of your youth to bring honour to this country. The Football Association is spending a lot of money on such competitions, so you must make sure you bring a good result this weekend”  Mr Kalenga concluded.

And Coach George Lwandamina told the Sports council chairman that all players called to camp had reported except for Lubambo Musonda and Kayawe Kapota. Kapota has injury while Musonda still has to be cleared by his club. His current status is that of a professional player and as such cannot feature in the CHAN competitions which are strictly for footballers who are not professional players.

Chipolopolo had their second day of training today with all the players participating except Zesco United midfielder, Kondwani Mtonga who was excused on account of a swollen knee. Team Doctor Joseph Kabungo however says Mtonga’s injury is not  serious. “We have not allowed Kondwa to train mainly because we want to  observe his knee but its something not very serious, we just  did not want to kind of overload him especially that we training on an artificial pitch” concluded Zambia’s representative at the CFA Standing Medical committee.

Zambia will leave for Namibia on Friday afternoon  and will engage their host on Sunday at the Sam Nujoma  Stadium in Namibia. This is in the 2016 Rwanda African Nations Championships CHAN qualifying series.
Winners of the two legged encounter will meet either Mozambique or Seychelles in October in the last qualifying round.
