Magistrate Simusamba throws out Kambwili’s bail application

Lusaka Magistrates Court David Simusamba has thrown out opposition NDC leader Chishimba Kambwili’s bail appeal pending appeal application.

Magistrate Simusamba last week convicted and sentenced Kambwili to two years imprisonment on two accounts – forgery and altering public documents.

Kambwili’s lawyers however quickly lodged in an appeal as they anticipated the verdict. Magistrate Simusamba however could not look at the appeal saying he will only do so on the 20th October 2020, today.

Passing a verdict on the appeal when the matter came up before him, Magistrate Simusamba said Kambwili’s lawyers must explain how they quickly filed in an appeal immediately he convicted Kambwili.

However Kambwili’s lawyers requested to have a meeting with him in the chambers. Kambwili is currently at Kamwala remand prison in Lusaka.

Earlier Police arrested his wife and Daughter Chanda after the former alleged slapped the police officer. They have been detained at Kabwata Police Station.
