Lungu visits KK on his 97th birthday

President Edgar Lungu has visited former and first Republican President Dr Kenneth Kaunda on his 97th birthday today to wish him well.

KK was born on 28 April 1924 and served as Zambian’s first President from 1964 to 1991.

President Lungu, posted:

“Fellow citizens,

Join me as I visit our first Republican President to wish him well at his 97th birthday.”

Lungu said today is one such important days on the nation’s calendar as Zambians from all walks of life celebrate the life of a living legend.

Lungu added that as a nation, KK’s contribution to the Independence of not only Zambia, but Africa as a whole will always be greatly appreciated.

Meanwhile, a number of Zambians have been sending their birthday wishes to KK.

Apparently, Kaunda is one of the few if not the only surviving pioneers of the liberation struggle in Africa.

He is the class of the late leaders like, Julius Nyerere of Tanzania, Kwame Nkurumah of Ghana, and Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe.
