United Party for National Development (UPND) Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has accused President Edgar Lungu of sending three ministers to persuade him to defect to the ruling party, Patriotic Front (PF).

Speaking during a press briefing in Choma today, Mweetwa said Lungu sent Lusaka Minister Bowman Lusambo, Mines Minister Richard Musukwa and Edify Hamukale to ‘bribe’ him out of his party and join PF.

Mweetwa said the three ministers have been calling him, and promising him a top post in government from Lungu if he agrees to defect.

Mweetwa said he can’t join PF, because his party UPND has a plan to rescue the country from the woods.

However, when Phoenix News contacted Musukwa for a comment, he rubbished the allegations, saying PF has no shortage of leaders. -Phoenix News
