Lungu declares Friday a public holiday

President Edgar Lungu has declared Friday, October 25, the day after Zambia’s Independence Day, a public holiday.

On Thursday, October 24, Zambia will be celebrating 55 years of Independence from the United Kingdom. October 24 is a gazetted National holiday.

  1. Perfect picture to go alongside assanine decisions. Did Lungu consult? Businesses need people to work, people need to earn money. All needed to keep the economy he clearly has no clue how to run going. Of course he did not think of needs and consequences, too busy dancing and having a good time to think clearly.

  2. Makes no sense at all just encouraging laziness and idleness! Lungu in his ‘wisdom’ is rewarding a long drinking and time wasting weekend that is not deserved for a struggling economy!
