President Edgar Lungu has urged bar and nightclub owners to remain patient as the government works on the way forward regarding re-opening their businesses.

The President says he has received recommendations from the stakeholders regarding resumption of operations, but will be guided by the health and socioeconomic considerations in addressing the matter.

“Yes we have received the recommendations, but we have to be careful because the numbers have not dropped.

“This is the month that we were told the pandemic would evolve,” said Lungu.

He urged the bar and nightclub owners, patrons and the citizens at large to be patient as the government through the ministry of health in consultations with other line ministries to map way forward.

His sentiments come high on the heels of demands by bar and nightclub owners to re-open.

The bar and nightclub owners recently issued threats that they were planning to open their businesses with or without government approval.
