Kampyongo warns HH

The Minister of Home Affairs, Stephen Kampyongo has warned Hakainde Hichilema and his UPND party that the police will not allow them to move with a thousand vehicle convoy to Chinsali.

This is after, police in Chinsali had summoned the UPND leader to present himself at the said station for questioning on Tuesday, October 21, 2020 at 09:00hrs.

Apparently, following the summoning, the UPND said they are mobilizing a thousand vehicle convoy to escort their party leader to the police station.

However, Kampyongo has warned against the idea during a briefing today, saying political parties should not dare government and when it acts, they claim that the civic space is shrinking and play victim.

Meanwhile, it is not yet clear as to why Hichilema has been summoned, Kampyongo disclosed that Sesheke UPND MP Romeo Kang’ombe who has been summoned alongside HH, was on the vehicle where two abducted police officers and five civil servants of Muchinga Province were bundled and later assaulted.

He also said some political parties have been going to East Africa to seek funding, adding that their funders were encouraging them to engage in lawlessness, adding that the police are aware of the plans by the opposition to deliberately cause violence ahead of 2021.
