Former Zambia International Rainford Kalaba is alive and the latest update according to the University Teaching Hospitals (UTH) is that his condition is now stable.

Yesterday, TP MAZEMBE caused a Social media stir in the African football space.

This was after they published about the news of the passing of their former Player Kalaba, which turned out to be untrue.

Kalaba was a victim of a car accident which was reported to have claimed one life of a lady identified as Charlene Mukandawire.

The Player was said to have been taken to UTH and currently is in a stable condition.

The accident happened yesterday April 13, 2024, at 12:20pm.

It happened along the Great North Road at Kafue Corners near Kafue Quarry.

Vehicles involved were Howo truck horse driven by Muyunda Isaac and a Mercedes Benz car driven by an unidentified female unofficially identified as Charlene Mkandawire.

The female driver of the Mercedes Benz car succumbed to her injuries at the scene and died on spot.

Kalaba, a passenger in the Mercedes, suffered suspected internal injuries and was transported to University Teaching Hospital (UTH) for medical treatment.

Preliminary investigations suggest the cause of the accident was improper overtaking by the Mercedes, leading to a collision with the oncoming truck.

There has been some confusion regarding the status of Rainford Kalaba. While initial reports erroneously declared him dead, it has been clarified that he is alive but in critical condition.
