Hichilema arrives in Scotland

President Hakainde Hichilema earlier today arrived in Sctland in the United Kingdom for a three day work visit.Hichilema who is in the company of his wife Mutinta posted on his facebook page that he had arrived in Glasgow, Scotland to commence our three-day working visit to the United Kingdom. He was welcomed by Zambia’s High Commissioner to UK Macenje Mazoka.
“Together with the First Lady, Mutinta, we have arrived in Glasgow, Scotland to commence our three-day working visit to the United Kingdom,” President Hichilema said. “At the invitation of His Majesty King Charles III, we look forward to deepening and strengthening the longstanding bonds between Zambia and the United Kingdom, fostering greater cooperation and mutual prosperity for our nations.”
He said he was grateful to Zambians for their prayers.
“We are truly grateful for your prayers and continued support as we work on this trip to deliver for you, the Zambian people.”
But back home the opposition has questioned Hichilema’s international policy priorities.
“Mr Hichilema failed to attend an important UN meeting but now on his way to see the King of The United Kingdom. The UPND should get the country’s priorities right.” said Dr. Fred M’membe of the opposition Socialist Party of Zambia.
President Hichilema has not been travelling since June 5, 2025 when his predecessor Edgar Lungu died saying he was mourning.
