The preparations are progressing well at the Presidential Burial Site in Lusaka were First President Kenneth Kaunda will be put to rest on Wednesday, Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga has said.
Apparently, he told journalists in Lusaka that foreign dignitaries have not been invited to attend the burial of Dr Kaunda as they were accommodated to mourn the first President during the state funeral last Friday.
He said the burial procession will be largely restricted to Dr. Kaunda’s family members.
Malupenga said the move is in line with COVID-19 health protocols that have inhibited mass gathering.
He interacted with the media after inspecting preparations at the Presidential Burial Site in the capital today.
Meanwhile, Malupenga called on Zambians not to rely on false information concerning Dr. Kaunda’s burial place apart from government officials and Dr. Kaunda’s first son, Panji. -znbc
