Fired Diplomat Brian Hapunda member of the defeated PF media team says he is used to be fired and has accepted the decision.

Hapunda who was First Secretary Politics and Administration at the Zambia Mission in Brussels – Belgium says he will go back to growing of tomatoes which he was doing before then president Edgar Lungu appointed him as a Diplomat.

In a writeup below Hapunda has also thanked former president Edgar Lungu for having appointed him and President Hakainde Hichilema for allowing him to serve for three months.

Hapunda and other members of the PF media team who had been sent to foreign service were alleged to have left their missions to come and help the PF during the August 2021 general elections which the former ruling party lost to UPND.

Hapunda was a stooge member of the UPND and only defected in 2011 to PF after his party could not win those elections.

👊🏽Ecclesiastes 3:1-8″For everything there is a season, A time for every activity under heaven”

…Yesterday I bid farewell to the Brussels Mission as my Tour of Duty has come to an end. It is difficult to find the right words to describe this journey but firstly thank God Almighty for the favour🙌🏽 of an extra ordinary life thus far which has given me an opportunity to serve my country.

Special gratitude goes to HE President Edgar Chagwa Lungu for the appointment to serve him and Zambia in Foreign Service as First Secretary Political and Administration (Brussels, Belgium). I also wish to thank HE President Hakainde Hichilema for allowing me to serve him and the new dawn government for a few months.

When I received my letter of recall from Foreign Service, I happened to be chatting with a very good friend of mine on phone,Tickley Mukosiku. I immediately informed him that I had received my “love letter” from capital. He jokingly teased me and said, “daddy it’s alright and moreover imwe munajaila (you are used) being hired and fired publicly by the powers that be!”. We laughed it off but if this Lozi chap was near me I would have slapped him hard! Well, maybe Tickley was right.🤷🏽‍♂️

Well public life is such that you come in, do your part and leave inorder for others to come in and do their part too. Such is public service and jobs in general. This must not discourage young people. Young people must not fear to stand up and be counted in various leadership positions be it in church, corporate/business, private and public sectors for if they do not stand up and participate, no one will locate them to count them. Opportunities have to be grabbed and utilised!

As I return home, I will retreat from public life back to tomatoe farming and tiling the land🚜.

Lastly, I shall forever remain indebted to my dear loving wife and children, relatives and wonderful friends for their support in all I do. I love you. ❤️
