FAZ delegation visits funeral house of late Daniel Jere
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) visited the funeral house of late former Zambia U20 team manager Daniel Jere on Wednesday to offer condolences and support to the bereaved family.
FAZ Deputy General Secretary John Msimuko led the delegation that included Head of Administration Colonel Andrew Siame (Rtd) and Technical Director Lyson Zulu in paying respects to Jere, who passed away on Tuesday after illness.
Msimuko presented moral and financial support to Jere’s widow, Calistus, and conveyed the Association’s heartfelt condolences, describing the loss as deeply saddening for the football family.
“As FAZ, we are deeply saddened by the loss of Mr. Jere, our friend who was a dedicated servant of Zambian football who served in various capacities, including team manager for the Under-20 and Under-17 national teams,” Msimuko said.
“Just last Friday, we were together with our friend for the Annual General Meeting in Kabwe. My message of encouragement is that we leave everything in God’s hands and we have to keep our faith in God. Our condolences once more.”
Jere’s legacy includes his instrumental role as team manager during Zambia’s historic triumph at the 2017 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held on home soil.
He also served in the same capacity during the 2015 U-20 AFCON in Senegal under the late Hector Chilombo.
The late Jere is survived by his wife Calistus and four children. The funeral house is in Lusaka’s Libala area, with burial scheduled for Thursday following a church service at the Army Chapel.
