Catherine Phiri delivered a spectacular third round knockout of German boxer Pia Mazelanik, to grab the World Boxing Council (WBC) silver bantamweight title.

In a match held at Government Complex on Saturday evening, the female boxing sensation ruthlessly demolished her German opponent to record yet another victory, much to the delight of the local fans.

Following an uneventful first round, Catherine sprung to life in the round 2, landing a series of punches that sent her opponent sprawling on the canvass towards the end of the round.

The pattern continued in the third round until the referee decided she had seen enough after the German hit the canvass for the fourth time.

In the main event, Zimbabwean-born Charles Manyuchi stopped Patrick Allotey of Ghana to win the WBC international welterweight belt via technical knockout.

In a bruising encounter that lasted eight rounds, the dominant and enterprising Manyuchi was declared winner after the referee stopped the fight in rather contentious circumstances.
