Bus fares increased

The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has announced an upward adjustment in bus fares, pursuant to Section 107 (11) of the Road Traffic Act No. 11 of 2022 amended by Act No.8 of 2022.

The changes in bus fares are effective today 7th September, 2023.

The adjustment in bus fares comes in the wake of an increase in fuel pump prices announced by Energy Regulations Board ( ERB) on 31st August, 2023.

RTSA has advised bus operators to revise the bus fare charts accordingly and display in all buses.

On 31 August, 2023 ERB increased the fuel pump price , with petrol going at K29.42 litres from K25.57 per litre.

And diesel increased from K23.36 per litre to K26.88 per litre, while kerosene remained the same at K20.44 per litre.

The new fares are as follows:
