A Road in Zambia’s provincial capital

Despite the much talked about massive road infrastructure projects embarked by the Patriotic Front Government in 2011, roads in some parts of the country are still in pathetic state.

Forinstance, this is a road around Kalungungu, one of the biggest markets in Choma. Choma is the provincial capital of Southern province. It is 4 hours drive from Lusaka the capital city of Zambia. This picture courtesy of Norman Kapata was taken Sunday morning, April 2, 2017.

  1. All roads in Zambian towns are pathetic you can’t imagine you are in a city in Zambia let alone the capital city. Our mungwi road is like it leads to a rebel camp all the way to Appollo Zambia army camp with over 3,500 housing units and along the way we have a ZAF camp. It takes an hour to drive a 22 kilometre stretch. It’s like we live in a war zone. Cars breakdown every so often because of the craters on the roads. Please PF the listening government, do something about this road, twapapata.

  3. 1st it’s impossible for GRZ to build or repair all roads in country @ once. It will take huge borrowing form somewhere. Im sure some roads in Choma have been repaird or built. 2nd town roads are responsibility of council. If council is failing it means its either corrupt or town is not productive.
