Monde Monde 1Opposition UPND are already moving in to throw out its Itezi Tezi Member of Parliament Greyford Monde out of the party for taking up the position in the PF government as Deputy Minister.

UPND Secretary General Winstone Chibwe has said that Monde’s expulsion from the party is a straight forward case since he has gone against the party’s principles.

Chibwe explains that the party has not changed its position never to work with the ruling PF.

The appointment of Monde into government seem to have caught the party leadership an aware and an urgent meeting was being held at the party’s Secretariat, a top senior party official told Zambian Eye.

“There is no two ways about it the young man (Monde) is gone,” a top official said in an interview. “He is a sell-out and we shall throw him out and follow him to the constituency.”

Zambian Eye has been informed that the UPND has an agreement with all its MPs that they shall not join the PF government and that anyone who decides to do so will have to part company with the party.

“This is why it is been difficult for MPs to accept job offers from President Sata,” a NEC member explained. “Monde is not the first one to be approached for a job, I don’t know what has gone wrong with the young man anyway he has lost it.”

Monde is a new MP for UPND, the party could not adopt him after he made two attempts in 2001 and 2006. Insiders say he had to lobby and plead as he was not the favourite in Lusaka.

“The party had to leave out the seating MP then Godfrey Beene for him and now this is what he can pay back,” a NEC member explained.

President Michael Sata has appointed Monde as Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock bringing the number of Deputy Ministers to three in the ministry.

Meanwhile Monde has accepted his appointment in the PF government. Monde says he will wait for the action the party take against him for accepting the appointment.
