The Minister of Finance and National Planning Situmbeko Musokotwane is currently presenting the 2026 National Budget to Parliament.
In his presentation, the Finance Minister says inflation has declined to 12.6 percent in September due to the government’s fiscal discipline.
He adds that banking sector remains profitable as August 2025, against the benchmark of 10 percent, adding that the same is prevailing in the non-banking sector.
Musokotwane points out that the Budget being presented this afternoon contains various investments in transforming the socio-economic growth in the country.
Speaking about the mining sector, the Finance Minister says the government is upscaling production at existing mines including Mopani, Konkola Mines among others.
On energy, Musokotwane says the current administration has created an environment that makes private sector active players in the power generation sector, adding that in the past four years various reforms have been made in the energy sector.
