Muntu wandi, umfwa kuno. Don’t get it twisted, ifi fintu fyaliba simple. Palibe vodabwisa dabwisa apa…
Did you know that in Africa, when you going to work, when you are leaving for work every single morning, you are not going to work alone, oh no no no. Tefyo chaba mu Africa bane….kuno it’s the spirit of Ubuntu, a shared humanity that guides us.
Muntu wandi every morning that you wake, going to work, to school or business, You are carrying your parents along, you are working for your husband, your wife, your children’s future, your relatives. Mu Africa salary yobe te yobe weka, unless you just a very stingy miser. Little do you know that you carry alone the hopes of many people’s, aunties, uncles, girlfriends, boyfriends, mere friends, acquaintances, church colleges, in short, in case you didn’t know, that job of yours, you the student at UNZA, at CBU, Nortec, Hone, Nipa, Zcas, you the nurse, the teacher, the soldier, the police officer, the banker, the business personnel in short, everybody… What you doing right now in life is not for you alone, someone’s life depends on you, you their joy, you their hope, as at now you are responsible for the happiness of a lot of people.
So before you engaged in any stupid and foolish miscellaneous activities, at work or at school, please please, think twice. Ulepishamo sana pen muntu wandi.
Before you start absconding yourself from work for no reason, or going to work smelling of alcohol or underperforming, or being a starring and leading rebellions kwati nimwe ba union, think about what would happen to a lot of people if you got fired. How many people would suffer for your one stupid mistake?
As a student, mom and dad, aunty and uncle, your brothers and sisters sacrifice the little they have just to give you an education, elyo ku sukulu kulya mwaba ba starring, ever missing lectures, ever drunk, every weekend ni Northmead or Times Cafe or Breakpoint Kabwata or East Point or whatever disco tec you dream of, think twice about how many souls you shredding, people sacrificing money kanshi they are sponsoring fun. Little boys thinking nabakula spending cash on fellow ignorant and lost campus girls. Girls in collage and university, experimenting with sex, watching porno pama laptops, missing church a whole semester but ninshi at home you the quiet angel, just being a trickster and fooling everyone who trusts you. Lolela sana boi, this is life, chalo chino, we will see who will end up the biggest idiot at the end of the day.
Fellow students, remember every time you participating in meaningless Viva’s, breaking that car of an innocent passerby, breaking Windows and being unruly, remember that you don’t come from the same home, imwe nga bamitamfya, your life is as good as over while some of your college’s will simply go to Zcas or even to another country while you go back to sleeping on the couch, back to ‘buka tupyange‘ and Mary solye ubwali‘…Remember you have but one chance, once you loose that opportunity, poverty and hardships await you.
So lelo nipa Sunday, actually Zambians drink more on Sunday than any other day. Go to G Greens or Mikes Pub or Joe Mbuzi and you will know exactly what am talking about.
Nomba muntu wandi, you have tried that life over and over, you party all the time, every Sunday kunwa, Monday it’s always terrible hangovers, missing classes or always smelling beer at work, headaches and all that unnecessary staff.
You have tried to live life like a savage, why not try something different. Lelo ni Sunday, go to church, come back home, wash and iron your clothes, make sure all is set for the week, reply to emails, kasukulu finish up your assignments, ka uniform clean, books ready. Then afternoon, instead of beers, go for a walk, see a movie, relax and refresh your mind, muntu wandi in short be ready physically, emotionally and spiritually for the coming week…in the evening natu money ngopotuli take yourself out for a ka dinner this evening olo ka nice emotional movie pa arcades just to charge up yourself.
Muntu wandi you have but one life, If you don’t take care of your life, nobody else will. keep yourself well, love yourself enough to keep pushing yourself further. Some of you do not feel pity for yourself, you at a whole different savage level. Amenso ya bantu yala lya ka..keep yourself and leave that thug life alone…
Napwisha!!!
