Sata’s limitless appointments of Deputy Ministers must be stoped – Gen. Masheke

Last Prime Minister in the UNIP government General Malimba Masheke says there is need to stop President Michael Sata’s limitless appointment of Deputy Ministers into his government.

General Masheke said in Lusaka Saturday, March 2013 that the limitless appointments of Deputy Ministers was a drain of resources from government which must be stop by limiting the number through a clause in the constitution.

He explained that the opposition MPs being appointed were not contribution to policy making as they are not in cabinet. He said there are just there to help vote with government be bind with public responsiblity by venture of being part of government.

President Sata has embarked on appointing MPs from opposition to Deputy Ministerial positions resulting into many ministeris now having more than two Deputy Ministers. Sata himself while in opposition condemned the idea of having more than one Deputy Minister in one ministery but its now worse under his leadership.
