RTSA Directors fired

The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has terminated the contracts of three directors and a senior employee, in a bid to streamline operations.

The dismissed directors include Alinani Msisya, in charge of road safety, Joseph Mumba, overseeing transport, and Mundi Chibale Mwanza, responsible for human resources.

And a Procurement specialist, Janet Mumba has also been relieved of her duties.

Meanwhile, RTSA Chief Executive Officer, Amon Mweemba, confirmed the decision, stating that it was necessary to bring about organizational renewal and redirection.

Mweemba says there is need for a shift in management to address ongoing challenges, particularly concerning road safety.

He expresses concern over the agency’s inability to effectively mitigate road accidents, highlighting the persistent high number of fatalities.

Despite slight reductions in road deaths from 2022 to 2023, the CEO stressed that more decisive action was needed to achieve substantial improvements.
