The team probing former president Rupiah Banda says it will continue with its investigations on Tuesday.

Team Spokesperson Namukolo Kasumpa told reporters after today’s questioning  by the Government’s Joint Investigation team at the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) Offices in Lusaka.

And Banda has retaliated his call for peace as probing into his alleged corruption begun in Lusaka on Monday, March 18, 2013.

“We only have one country, let us keep it peaceful,” said Banda.

He told his sympathizers and supporters from the two opposition parties – MMD and UPND to be calm even when provocation.

Banda was escorted by Lusaka prominent lawyers – Prof Patrick Mvunga, Sakwiba Sikota among other notables in his legal team.

The interrogation started around 10:40.

The Former President who arrived at the offices at 10:30 hours was accompanied by senior MMD members among them Party President Nevers Mumba and Petauke Central Member of Parliament Dora Siliya.

There is currently tight security at the DEC offices with heavy police presence that are in full riot gear.

Mr Banda was on Saturday March 16 summoned to appear before the Joint Government Investigation team following the lifting of his immunity by parliament on Friday March 15.

The removal of his immunity paved way for him to be investigated over the allegations of corruption, Money Laundering and other atrocities that he might have committed under his tenure.
