President Edgar Lungu has made new appointments with immediate effect.

In the new appointments the President has terminated the appointment of deputy Auditor General in charge of Corporate Services Division, Sally Ross.

He has replaced her with Director of Finance in the ministry of housing and infrastructure, Claire Mazimba.

The President has also terminated the appointment of Controller of Internal Audit in the ministry of finance, Joyce Sundano and replaced her with Chibwe Mulonda.

According to the letter of appointment signed by the Special Assistant to the President, Press and Public Relations at State House, Isaac Chipande, the President wished the new appointees all the best and thanked those whose appointments have been terminated for the service rendered.

Apparently, Cabinet has effected President Lungu’s decision to reduce his salary and that of his cabinet with between 15 and 20 per cent.

In December, the President directed the Chief Secretary to the cabinet to slash the salaries of highly paid public officials in government. These are from the ranks of Permanent Secretary going up to the President.

This move was meant to cushion the general citizens from rising prices of fuel and electricity in December.

“I have shown the way and those will to work with me should be ready to sacrifice,” the President said at the time.
