President Chakwera concedes defeat in Malawi elections

Lazarus Chakwera has conceded defeat in the Malawi general elections that took place last Tuesday.
Malawi Electoral Commission will announce final results at 2pm CAT.
The outgoing President conceded defeat in a national address at midday saying it was just right to do so.
“It is only right that I concede defeat out of respect for your will as citizens and out of respect for the constitution,” Chakwera said in an address to the nation.
President Chakwera has only been in office for one term and he was seeking a second term. He has become the latest victim of the wave of change by Voters for unfulfilled campaign promises.
