Movement for Multiparty Democracy(MMD) has praised its counterpart, United Party for National Development for its decision to forego  the Mufumbwe by election by support its candidacy.

Party Deputy National Secretary Chembe Nyangu   said the MMD-UPND working plan is working and called for strong consolidation of the two opposition political parties.

Mr. Nyangu told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that the gesture exhibited by the two parties should be embraced by all party members.

He also claimed that MMD candidate Stanford Mulusa is a popular person in Mufumbwe charging that the party’s former MP and now PF candidate Stephen Masumba would be shocked on November 9, after the announcement of the results.

Mr. Chembe further told ZANIS that MMD campaign officials are currently on the ground campaigning for Mr. Mulusa to ensure that the MMD retains the seat.

And the United Party for National Development is confident that the opposition would retain the seat.

UPND Secretary General Winston Chibwe said his party would give solidarity to the MMD candidate in Mufumbwe.

Mr. Chibwe also disclosed that the UPND would participate in all the local Government by election in all the wards.
